I hope your ride was safe. Remember us? Jodie and Jamie, in the big truck on Corolla, the 2 gun toting southern ladies….
We’ve told our story about our adventure with you so many times and everyone loves it.
Hope all is well and if you get a chance, I’d love to hear about the highlights of your trip. You were certainly one of the highlights of our time in Corolla. We leave to go back for 2 weeks October 5, and I doubt we’ll meet any one as interesting as you!

Congratulations on being so close to your finish line! I hear you are on track to reach Seattle next week. How I would love to greet you there with a great big, cheering crowd!!

I was excited to see more photos on your blog today. I have loved following your journey and totally appreciate your perspective and sense of humor. It is quite amazing that you find time to caption and post. You look terrific–fit, happy and in good company with the fellow cyclists you have met along the way.

Here’s to the home stretch of a journey that you will remember for the rest of your life.

Hey Philipp! Love the blog, tales & photos. I have been following from day 1. Congratulations on the start of your remarkable ride. Google translates instantly from German but I must say, the sentence structure leaves something to be desired. So I am happy to read some of the posts in your excellent English. How on earth do you actually manage to ride a bike so laden with gear? !!

Raise a glass, give yourself a high-five or fist-bump from Jerry and me, enjoy the scenery, soak up the kindness of those you meet (with our without guns), stay strong and keep safe. I will be cheering you on.

Hi Philipp,
time to write again – after all!! Of course I’ve been following your reports and photos whenever I found them – mostly when getting up in the early morning (timeshift..), becoming a nice habit to start the day with to look if something new was there. Really nice to be able to „travel“ with you in a way. Yet – a very comfortable way!! I cannot tell you how impressed I am by the challenges you „deal“ with! You obviously have a lot (!) of mental and physical energy! Looking at the photo of this long, sandy, wet beach – imagining to „cross“ it by bike! Same with these for a European eye endless, never-ending roads! But looking at the distances you cycled every day, distances are (!) long! First looking at the daily distance meter I thought “ 79, quite a bit! With all that luggage.“ But only then I saw, it wasn’t kilometres but miles! Vowhh!! –
Enjoy the time to come – new impressions, nice countryside, getting in touch with people (and there friendliness!!), being proud of yourself and what you are doing, enjoying not to have to learn for your studies every day…! Be friendly with your muscles and give them a break once in a while ;-)!

P.P.S.: Very German addition: Gerade steht es in der 86. Spielminute 0:0 im Relegationsspiel HSV gegen Fürth….

…. ansteckend, Fernweh entzündend, Deine Bilder, Erzählungen von offenen netten und hilfsbereiten Menschen und Begegnungen (thank you (!), Joodie and Jamie, in case you go through a German text and find these words for you to read!!).
Was machen die (Radfahrer-)Beinchen und der Hintern? Über die Appalachians fährt man ja nicht jeden Tag….. Schon gar nicht mit Gepäck samt Zeltausrüstung für 3 Monate…..- Ich bewundere Deinen Mut des Sich-Einlassens auf so ein „Unternehmen“, dessen Besonderheit ja gerade darin liegt, dass Vieles nicht vorher planbar ist. In diesem Sinne die besten Wünsche für alles, das vor Dir liegt! Ich freue mich auf weiteres „Dabei-Sein-Dürfen“. Dicken hug von Mama
